21EXE006: Bushwalking 2

The bushwalking group will meet in the carpark behind St Joseph's Church every Monday at 9.30, then will carpool to the start of the walk (about 20 min drive). Walks will generally be somewhere in the area between Lysterfield, Ferntree Gully, Mt Dandenong and Gembrook. Expect to walk about 6-8 km each week in a time of about 1 and a half hours. There will be some rough paths. The leader will carry a basic first aid kit.
21DIS001: Australia and World History

For over 10 years I have been taking Australian History at U3A. This year we have the option to explore:
1. A history of the world. This includes major events that made an impact on the lives of people, nations and the progress of the world.
2. U3A have developed a program for teaching Australian indigenous history pre-1788. We now have resources to provide everyone insights and understandings of the long (50,000 plus) years of the First Australians.
3. Current developments or happening in Australian History.
Participants will have the opportunity to decide on topics within this program.

21DIS005: Philosophy

We discuss a wide range of philosophical issues and the thought of major philosophers from the ancient Greeks to our own times. Notes are distributed for pre-reading prior to each session. Classes consist of lecture and/or video input with ample time for discussion, including how the philosophy under consideration relates to our lives today. No formal background in philosophy is required only curiosity and openness to new ideas.
21MUS001: Musicians Sharing Group

Do you delight in the making of music? This weekly gathering aims to give musicians a chance to perform for and with each other in a non-threatening environment. Line Dancing for beginners! Expect some gentle exercise, all kinds of music, and lots of laughs. A line dance is a choreographed dance with a repeated sequence of steps. Research has shown that dancing is really good for older adults - improving strength, cardiovascular health and muscle function, as well as increasing balance, co-ordination and memory.

21LIT001: Book Group

Book group members read one book per month. They are chosen from Casey Cardinia Library's extensive sets of books for groups. We are required to submit a list of thirty titles each year with the library deciding which set we receive each month. Rarely do we all like or dislike a book and this leads to many interesting discussions, followed by afternoon tea.
